Coming Home
By Adonal Foyle
On Monday, Dec. 3, we'll be concluding our West Coast trip - against the Golden State Warriors. I'm excited to play against the team that has been wonderful to me for the past 10 years, but I'm also excited to be going back to my house in Orinda. They've been building a poolhouse in my backyard while I've been gone and I have good people who have been kind enough to watch over it for me. But it's going to feel good to go back home and see it first-hand. I'm really excited about that.
I still have a tremendous amount of friends and family back in the Bay Area, not to mention people who have cared about me and supported me for the past 10 years. I don't know how many people I'll be able to get in touch with when I come back home. We're only there for one day and there's still a game that needs to be played. So obviously, it's going to be difficult. But I'm going to try and say hi to as many people as possible and just go from there.
As far as the Warriors go, there are still people there who have been amazing to me. And I'm not going to forget them simply because I'm on another team. The fact of the matter is, I am now a member of the Orlando Magic and I am excited about being part of this team. But I don't think that after 10 years with the same team, that people change in general. Part of the whole experience of being an NBA player is knowing the good people over the course of your career - not just the coaches and teammate.
It's definitely going to feel weird going into the visitor's locker room in Oakland. I think I've been to every part of that arena except the visitor's locker room. So, I don't even know what it's going to be like to walk in there. But of course, that's part of the whole experience of changing teams.
I just hope that when I step onto the floor, the fans still like me.
