Adonal's Presidential Cabinet
By Adonal Foyle
President-Elect Barack Obama's inauguration is just weeks away and he was able to assemble his cabinet before he went on vacation for the holidays.
I started to think about all of the players around the NBA and what great ambassadors they are to the game. There are so many players who contribute to so much more outside of the basketball court, I started to think about who would make great cabinet members.
With that in mind, here is a list of players I thought would make great cabinet members in an Adonal Foyle administration:
Secretary of State, Etan Thomas: Etan is a diplomat. He's for peace. He doesn't like war, but also understands the necessity of war. He's also a poet. And for me, that's very important. And he's a mean sun of a gun under the boards. This was a tough choice because I need someone with a lot of travel experience.
Secretary of Homeland Security, LeBron James: LeBron has a great image. He gets his team to do whatever he wants. And when you are the Secretary of Homeland Security, you're going to have a lot of people report to you. LeBron would be perfect for this position because he demands respect.
Secretary of Treasury, Pat Garrity: Pat is one of the few people I can definitely talk money and economic issues with. He's cerebral, he has a good grasp of finances. And since he was the Treasury of the Player's Union, I think he would be a great fit for Secretary of Treasury.
Secretary of Education, Grant Hill: Grant Hill epitomizes the college education. He's smart, he's charismatic and he has a good grasp of educational policies. He would be very good for what we should implement into our educational system.
Secretary of Commerce, Dikembe Mutombo: Dikembe can speak many different languages, so he can potentially go out and negotiate trade deals. He would be able to talk to foreign leaders regarding trade negotiating. He already has experience as an ambassador. So this would be a good fit for him.
Secretary of Defense, Shaquille O'Neal: Shaq is a funny guy. But he is not afraid to commit a flagrant foul if it is necessary. He can go from rapping to swatting a ball in a blink of an eye. I need that kind of Jekyll and Hyde mentality to be my Secretary of Defense.
Attorney General, Tim Duncan: He speaks softly, but carries a big stick. He's rough, he's tough, and he plays by the rules.
